The Barracks

There was a barracks in Hurst as long ago as the 1840s although it took the name of Ladysmith Barracks following the relieving of the town in the Boer War. The Manchester Regiment left for South Africa from this Barracks, and the picture above shows the main entrance which is now a listed structure.

Although not visible from the photo, my home is on the development behind the gate.
