The Descendants of Robert and Jane Best



George Best 1792-1822.

Baptized at Kimmeridge: 26th February 1792.                        Buried at Kimmeridge: 5th October 1822 Aged 31 Years.


George married Mary Hibbs at Church Knowle on 13th December 1814.

They had the following children:


i)       Elizabeth Best born in 1815 in Kimmeridge. She was baptized at Kimmeridge on 17th September 1815.
Elizabeth married James Fooks on 17th December 1835 at Kimmeridge Parish Church. James was born in 1810 and died in Kimmeridge. He was buried on 25th August 1836 at Church Knowle aged 25 years.

Elizabeth then married William Hatchard Fooks who was baptized at Church Knowle on 21st November 1819. This marriage was on 10th November 1837 at St. Mary's Portsea. William was the son of Henry Fooks and Elizabeth his Wife.

William and Elizabeth had the following children:


i)      George James Fooks born in 1840 in Knowle.
ii)     Henry Hibbs Fooks born in 1842 in Studland
iii)    Eliza Isabel Fooks born in 1844 in Knowle.
iv)     William Edwin Fooks born in 1846 in Steeple.
v)      Sophia Hibbs Fooks born in 1849 in Knowle.
vi)     Joseph Fooks born in 1854 in Kimmeridge.
vii)    Frederick Fooks born in 1857 in Kimmeridge.
viii)   Emma Fooks born in April 1860 in Kimmeridge.


John Best 1794-.

                                    Baptized at Kimmeridge: 28th December 1794

John married Mary Davis at Piddletrenthide on 24th July 1834


Mary Best 1797-

                                    Baptized at Kimmeridge: 15th December 1797

Charles Best 1801-1834.

Baptized at Kimmeridge: 1st February 1801.                  Buried at Kimmeridge: 19th April 1834 Aged 33 Years.


He married Catherine Millar. Catherine was born in 1799 in Worbarrow and died in 1868. The marriage was at Tyneham on 30th August 1826.

They had the following children:


i)       Esther Best born in 1827 in Tyneham. She was baptized at Tyneham on 25th December 1827
ii)      David Best born in 1831 in Turnerspiddle.
iii)    Charles George Best born in Kimmeridge in 1833.
iv)     Henry Best born in 1834 in Kimmeridge. Henry married Susan Spicer in 1854. She was born in Wareham in 1835 and died in 1869


Henry Best 1804-.

                              Baptized at Kimmeridge: 15th April 1804.

Robert Best 1807-1838

Baptized at Kimmeridge: 9th August 1807.                  Buried at Kimmeridge: 25th April 1838 (Stated to be of Knowle)


He married Mary Ann Prosser, the daughter of Thomas Prosser at Kimmeridge Parish Church on 30th January 1832
Mary was born in Marshwood in 1810 and died in 1876.
They had the following children:


i)       Arabella Best born in 1832 in Kimmeridge. She was baptized at Kimmeridge on 25th November 1832
ii)      Druscilla Best born in 1832 in Kimmeridge.She was baptized at Kimmeridge on 25th November 1832
iii)    Matilda Best born in Kimmeridge in 1835. She was baptized at Kimmeridge on 12th July 1835
iv)     Cordelia Best born in 1836 in Kimmeridge. She was baptized at Kimmeridge on 20th November 1836
