Skinny Hatton's was a chip shop. It was just about half way between Ashton and Hurst near the Oddfellows Arms. It was the only one before Hurst Cross and was obviously well patronised, despite the meagre quantity of
chips served. Hence the name.
The chips were also extremely pale for one reason or another !
