Description of Enumeration District
All that part of the Parish of Ashton Under Lyne which comprises
part of the Ecclesiastical District of New St George's Church Stalybridge
and which
is bounded on the west by the Ashton Town Division, on the
south by Stamford Street, on the east and south east by and
including the road leading from Thompson Cross
to Ridghill called
Ridghill Lane and on the north by the boundary of the proposed
Ecclesiastical District of St George's Chapel Moſsley ad including
therein Mr Abel Harrison's house
at Highfield, and the Porters Lodge
Mr William Harrisons's house at West Hill, Mr David Harrison's house
at Thompson Cross, all the houses up Ridghill Lane (on both sides)
(except for one at the bottom occupied by Robert Gill and except the houses
in the gardens
at Swanwick Clough)–Higher Fold, the Coal Pit Hill
and such part of Ridghill Farm Fold as is on the west side of the said
road called Ridghill Lane, Arlies Farm, Hopkins and all other houses
on the west side of Arlies Lane between Arlies Farm and the junction of
Arlies Lane with the road leading from Hazlehurst to the top of Luzley
near May Hill and then all houses on the south side
of the said
road leading from Hazlehurst to the top of Luzley and then all houses
on the east side of the Stockport and Ashton Turnpike road as far as
and including the Barracks Tavern at Dukes Platting.
