Ionians Island Flag The Ionian Islands were under British Rule from 1818 to 1864 and three Registers of Births Marriages and Deaths were maintained during this period. These were for Civil events, Military events and Returns made by Chaplains in the Islands.

The information contained within the registers is as limited as that in the GRO Index itself for this period, but the numbers concerned are relatively small. The pages are tabular, so by using the tables you can sort them by names and references to find out who married whom. If you know your man was out in Corfu or Kefalonia, then there's a good chance that this could be him. You'll never know if you don't try though

The Registers have been transcribed to the best of my ability, some of the films were poor and so, if I have slipped up, I'm sorry. Any corrections would be welcomed, although no liability is accepted for reliance on these transcriptions alone.
