Description of Enumeration District

All that part of the Parish of Ashton Under Lyne which comprises
part of the Ecclesiastical District of New St George's Church Stalybridge
and is bounded on the west and northwest by the said road leading
from Thompson Cross to Ridghill called Ridghill Lane, to the east by
the Ecclesiastical District of Old St George's Chapel Cocker Hill Stalybridge
and in the south partly by Stamford Street and partly by Wakefield
Road and comprising therein the house at the bottom of Ridgehill Lane
occupied by Robert Gill, the houses in the gardens at Swanwick
Clough, the houses on Mount Pleasant north of Stamford Street,
the houses near New St George's Church, belonging to Meſsrs, Hiram
and Edward Pearson,, the houses on the west side of Church Street,
the houses on the Haigh west of the footpath which leads down
to and meets King Street and all the houses on the north side of
Stamford Street to its junction with Wakefield Road then on both
sides of Wakefield Road as far as the east side of and including
St George's Church Tavern.
