Joe Wood sold pies during the 1930s and 1940s in Ashton Under Lyne. Whilst this is long before my time, the quality of his merchandise lives on in the songs below:

  Now at last my life is over

• We hate Joe Wood's pies

  And it's time for me to die

• Watch your cats and dogs and flies

  The doctor said "What have you eaten?"

• Or else he'll have 'em in his pies

  I had to say a Joe Woods pie

• We hate Joe Wood's pies

They were known as Joe Wood's killers ! If only I could have tasted one !
