The Blacky:- Hurst Methodist School was where I went between the ages of 7 and 9. The school appears on an 1848 Ordnance Survey map of Hurst and I don't think that it had altered much since that date during my attendance. It had also been known as Hurst British School and The Undenominational.

Sadly it caught fire one weekend and was demolished.
